I was born as the second child of Cherickal K.  C. Joy & Philo Joy in a village called Arpookara which is a part of upper kuttanadu, 3 kilometers from Kottayam .  My elder sister is Jophy J. Cherickal, my “ Jophy Chechy ”. My younger brother Jophin. J. Cherickal” our  “Joppen” is the pet in our home. Both of them are the two persons who are very close to my heart.

When my mummy was carrying me , my  family members was expecting a baby boy. My great grandfather, Mr. K. C. Chandy , a known agriculturalist and martial art expert even suggested a name “Phijo” by clumping the names of my parents. Bad Luck! The baby born was me. Grandfather did not want to change the name hence I was named Phijo, the name for a boy.

I still remember my preschool days. I together with my friend Shelji were picked by Aya, called “Kunjaunty” by us.  Shelji is my first friend from school days till now. Some days I was very lazy to go to nursery and kunjaunty tempted me by saying there is egg fruit ripen for me in the nursery compound. The sweetness of that yellow fruit is still in the tip of my tongue.

I did my secondary education in two schools near to my home. After 10th, I joined B. K. College, Amalagirri for my Pre- Degree studies. Meanwhile I was inspired by my chemistry Professor Ms. Alice and decided to become a teacher like her. I was attracted by her features like the way of wearing saree, hair style etc. In my perspective, she is a role model as a teacher, friend, guide and mentor and more. I felt a motherly approach from her during my exam days. I loved the subject Chemistry by the inspiration of Ms. Alice and it made me to choose Chemistry as my main subject for graduation.

I joined K. E. College, Mannanam for my graduation studies. It was a golden time in my college life. The reason is, I never felt a difference from school days in B. K, but in K. E. there was a colourful campus life. There I got two new friends Retty, she is my best friend & Saritha, we formed a group named “RPS” .

I turned to the field of Computer because it was one of the emerging fields at that time. I joined B. V. M. Holy Cross College, Pala for my post graduation. After that I joined K. E. College as a Lecturer in the department of Statistics. There I got colleagues of my age to work with.

At that time, one of my collegue, moreover my friend Ms. Anju Philip proposed me for her brother. That proposal was forwarded and I got married to Mr. Joseph Philip, Kottayarikil, a man of love and care.  I didn’t felt my husband’s family as a new one because Pappa , Mr. K. J. Philipose and Mummy, Mrs. Marykutty considered me as their daughter. Moreover the presence of Anju in the home made me more comfortable in the new atmosphere. Besides Anju I have one more Sister- in- Law Ms. Ashly Catherine Philip. I thank God for giving me such a supporting and loving family.

After several months, I was shifted to School of Computer Sciences, M. G university. There I got the opportunity to meet eminent professors and researchers. After completing my contract with the university, I Joined MACAST, one of the best self financing institutions in central Travancore.

As a teacher I wish to continue my profession for lighting their path and guiding them to a successful life.
